Teacher Induction Ceremony

Last night I was officially inducted into the College of Education here at UNI. This was a big step forward in my learning career here because it's one step closer in becoming a teacher and getting that degree I've been working so hard towards. My family drove up from 2 hours away to come to the ceremony, and my roommate also came to support me! It was very neat sitting through the ceremony and listening to the speaker and thinking, I hope one day I have an impact on students lives, but more importantly, I hope students will have an impact on my life. It was a good ceremony and I'm glad that the University of Northern Iowa can recognize the effort students put in to becoming teachers. I am very excited to go through this program with some of my closest friends that I have met here at UNI, and I'm glad I can share this journey with all of you!

Personal Learning Network (PLN)

When I first thought of what my personal learning network would look like, this diagram is what came to mind. I thought of it like the basis of who I communicated with daily and what I did that was a part of my life each day. I think that this class will be a good way to understand how big of a range my PLN can be and already is. I decided it was time to expand my personal learning network and see what I could do to get better connected to those around me. There are many ways to expand my PLN, like video conferencing, pinterest, twitter, and other social media platforms. These are 10 things that I did in order to help expand my understanding of technology and how I can use them as I grow as an educator in the future. 1) Pinterest Account ( Professional Account ) The first thing I did was set up a professional Pinterest account so I could begin to pin ideas of things I could use or do in my future classroom.
